The Residents: Community Art Project
Surprise! Here is the bonus weekend post I promised you, and what a whopper of a post it is! Some context: in mid-August, art-rock band The Residents put out a call for artists to contribute to a “community art project.” The task was simple: take the provided audio clip and create your own video to it. Red Penguin and I weren’t alloted much time to do a video, but we worked our feathery butts off to make it happen. Here it is:
But that’s not all! Because the Residents (and Museum of Modern Art representatives) liked the video so much, it was chosen as one of six to be screened at a MoMA event on October 19th. At this Residents retrospective (which will most likely be attended by Hardy Fox and Homer Flynn of the Cryptic Corp) our movie’s going to be thrown up on a big screen in front of a packed theatre. Is that cool or what?
So if you are in the New York area, you will have a unique opportunity to meet us, the Penguin Bros – in person! In the days approaching the event I will explain how things will go down in greater detail. Until next time, WOOOO!
WOW.
WOW.
WOW.
What program did you use for stop motion?
THIS IS FANTASTIC!
Too all of y’all out there who are wondering what we used to film the stop motion segments, it’s Xipster’s Fullstop. It’s not the most feature rich application but damn if it isn’t the easiest. Glad you liked the video!
Congrats guys! That is so awesome. I made a movie last year to their “Man’s World” cover, but your is way better. Bet your breeches I’ll be there. Are the famous four going to be there by any chance?
The Residents never make appearances, but Hardy Fox and Homer Flynn may very will be there as representatives.
Bravo. What a good show it was.
